Machination is a text based forum MMORPU (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Universe)

It operates on a system that I have decided to name; The God System.

This means that a group of learned Game Masters control all of the action in game, assisted of course by a set of unbreakable rules, such as the laws of physics and the laws of the game mechanics.

The way that events happen is as follows...

A player makes an action, to move for example. The GM for that area recognises that action and moves their player on the game map accordingly, taking into account the limitations of that player such as "Run" skill or the amount of space they have to move around in. More complicated actions such as combat are resolved with random dice rolls effected by your players stats.

Also the GM's are in charge of supplying information to players such as map data when a player uses a scanner to sweep a room, or historical facts about the universe when a player uses their "Knowledge - History" skill. And also for the placement and movements of Non-Player foes around the universe.

This system ensures fair play because the players know little about the rules of the universe they live in so cannot exploit it by lording over lower players with rule knowledge, and the GM's being impartial to the misfortunes and trials of the players!

In a game room (A map in which players are withheld in the game world) each player must make their Two actions by announcing it with a post (More on Actions later!) when all players have made their claims a GM will calculate the outcome (Who fails at picking the lock, succeeds at dousing another player in petrol, and other such events) And then the turn starts again. Players who are two slow to catch the GM's post must make up for it by remembering that GM's usual post time and getting in there beforehand! If the GM says it happened, it happened. No amount of Skill points can save you from their judgement.

If a player leaves the room, and enters a new one...they must first reach the limits of the room they were first in, and then can only enter the ajoining room ect, not teleporting around the universe! They must announce their presence in a room and announce their leaving a room, to clear any confusion.

A Player must also adhere to the limitations of their chosen character, for example a Pirate would not know much about manners and the insides of the Royal Palace! We know that variation is good, but stay true to your character and GM's will recognise this with slightly softer punishment later on in-game. When a player knows things their character shouldnt, it is called "God Syndrome" and is reportable!

Maps for Game Rooms will be drawn to illustrate the layout of an area, with a grid to show the amount of distance a player can move ect, and GM's will update the map with relevant info such as Player locations, Foe locations and Doorways, traps, items that other Players have unearthed.

Actions Cost Energy and it will be deducted from your profile accordingly by a GM

When a player defeats foes or other players they gain XP points and after leveling up may add another skill point to their player, and after a certain amount of level players may select a Power for their chatacters.

When a Players Health reaches Zero, they die...and their character is erased from the game. But your account may still be used to create another character.

For more Specific rules, see the relevant posts.
